Lehigh Valley Hospital: Trauma Surgeon

We are seeking a BC/BE surgeon with added qualifications in trauma/surgical critical care and an interest in general surgery to join our salaried group of nine full-time trauma surgeons and eight physician assistants. The surgeons and mid-level providers manage a 14-bed trauma/neuro unit, 28-bed trauma step down unit and a 15-bed surgical intensive care unit. The practice also has a significant academic component which includes ongoing clinical and basic science research as well as daily teaching of surgical residents, medical students and a surgical critical care fellow. Lehigh Valley Hospital is a 980-bed teaching hospital with the first designated Level I trauma program in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It is one of the busiest trauma centers in Pennsylvania with 4,500 annual trauma admissions, added qualifications in pediatric trauma and an RRC-approved Surgical Critical Care Fellowship. The hospital has five air ambulances, two trauma resuscitation bays and a dedicated trauma operating room serving an eight county area with an estimated population of over two million. An integral part of the surgical department is the regional burn center which doubled in size this year to a total of 18 beds, staffed with three full-time burn surgeons.

As a group, we share responsibilities for critical care services, a general pulmonary office and hospital practice, 13-bed sleep lab, a 32-bed LTACH (Long Term Acute Care Hospital) and a freestanding subacute ventilator weaning unit. Work with the Fleet Engineer on new trailer design to determine the best path forward for new equipment into the fleet; this includes inspection during the manufacturing of new trailers.

The GO Fleet Management Group is responsible for planning, organizing, training, and controlling the selection, purchase, administration, and maintenance of vehicles and shop equipment in the United States and Canada to provide safe and cost efficient transportation for company products.


Principal Accountabilities:

1. Administer the trailer rehab process for atmospheric and LHY trailers.

2. Assist in reducing trailer maintenance costs and improve reliability and performance - by providing technical advice and providing recommendations on trailer specifications (new and rehab).
3. Develop and implement a replacement program for all liquid trailers. This will be achieved by a cost study to determine replacement strategy.
4. Develop, document and administer an Air Products requirements task list for all vendors for quality assurance.
5. Assist in documenting trailer Maintenance Information Letters (MIL’s) for distribution to maintenance team.
6. Work with the Fleet Op’s team to put a plan in place to change the current rehab process from a reactive to a proactive program.
7. Work with the current rehab website owner to update site, including fixed cost, screen layout, and report designs. Develop a training document for the website that can be used by terminal personal and vendors for process of updating site.
8. Travel to vendors and AP maintenance sites as required to assure compliance and increase knowledge of process. 30% Travel is required in this position but may be increased during training period or heavy rehab demand.
9. Monitor rehab/major repair authorization to ensure correct pricing, prevention of overcharges, or unnecessary work, identification of warranty information for manufacturer’s assistance in failure analysis.
10. Improve the effectiveness of the work team by sharing knowledge learned and assist others in making recommendations to improve processes.
11. Coordinate with the Fleet Engineer on new trailer inspections at vendors during the build process. This is to assure quality before units leave the vendor.
12. Continuously improve the rehab process to reduce overall maintenance costs.
13. Work with the Fleet Support Coordinator Trailer to understand billing and project costs allocation to help improve the rehab decision making process.
14. Share knowledge with the Fleet Operations team to that may improve the bulk trailer retest program.

The successful candidate will perform Plant Process Engineering and productivity improvement for the Performance Materials Growth Platform Division (PMGP). Primary responsibilities of the position may include:

1. Identify productivity improvement opportunities. Areas of emphasis include: manufacturing cost reduction, capacity improvements/cycle time reductions, supply chain flow and cost improvement, waste handling and reduction, raw materials, utilities consumption/cost/supply and production process reliability.

2. Conduct process engineering evaluation of production unit operations and facility utilities, screen options, investigate and identify process bottlenecks and constraints, map system capability and rank solutions with necessary cost-benefit analyses.

The individual in this position reports to the manager of Voice, Video, and Contact Center Solutions. The selected individual will provide technical leadership, engineering, and consulting on new solutions and innovation efforts focused on enhancing user productivity while lowering cost. The technology focus for this exciting position will be the integration VoIP, Video Conferencing and collaboration, and Contact Centers in line with our Unified Communications strategy.

The incumbent will frequently interact with IS&D Delivery, IT Innovation & Architecture, and other IS&D Solutions teams, and will gain a broad exposure to a variety of other applications and architectures through the project work. For this position, the incumbent will focus on Cisco VoIP technologies, Contact Centers, Tandberg Video conferencing infrastructure, their associated operating systems, installation and deployment design, and landing the solutions into the delivery teams. Current new solution projects include developing a robust and scalable global VoIP offering, IP enabling Video Conferencing and collaboration, and the ongoing development of various Contact Center solutions. The selected individual for this position will initially focus on working with our existing team in developing our global VoIP offering, with a focus on contact center technologies supporting both centralized and decentralized deployment models.

To be successful, the incumbent will need strong technical skills and a demonstrated ability to engineer and implement highly complex technology solutions on time and on budget. An ability to work on virtual teams and cross-functional projects is essential.


POSITION RESPONSIBILIITIES

As a member of Global IT Infrastructure Solutions, the incumbent will:

• Develop new voice, video, and contact center solutions and offerings
• Land new solutions into the Delivery organizations
• Perform project execution
• Stay current on voice and video related trends and technologies
• Take the lead role on various projects
• Ensure Global IT Incident Management, Problem Management, and Change Management procedures are followed in conjunction with telecommunications/network/voice deployment and support activities globally.


EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related curriculum
• A minimum of 10 years experience in Information Technology
• A minimum of 5 years experience with VoIP / telecommunications / networking / video technologies
• Strong technical skills and experience with:
o IP Telephony technology (preferably Cisco)
o Contact Center solutions
o Video Conferencing technology (preferably Tandberg)
o Cisco-based network technology
• Experience with Microsoft Unified Communications technology is a plus
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple project-related requirements
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem solving skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills to interface directly with IT management, remote site managers/contacts, and telecommunications/network/voice suppliers.
• Strong understanding of telecoms/network concepts, protocols, services, facilities, and hardware. Cisco CCVP/CCDP/CCNP certification is a plus, but not required.
• Open to occasional travel, sometimes international

Job Description and Qualifications Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a Sr. Cost Estimatorat at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.


Sr. Cost Estimator:
The estimator is accountable for all aspects of developing construction scope and resultant cost, for most phases of estimating. The activities could include: identifying construction related risk, reviewing the work of outside A&E Firms who prepare construction scope and costs for Air Products, participating in negotiations with construction contractors, during execution phase, and developing construction productivity. All estimators participate in the maintaining of various cost databases for construction disciplines on a global basis. The work is performed to support all divisions of Air Products throughout the world.

CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The focus of Electrical Construction Estimators is the development of construction scope and resultant costs. The major responsibilities include:

• Prepare detailed E&I take off construction estimates using the Electrical Construction Estimating System.

• Ability to do conceptual estimates from plot plans, single line and flow sheets.

• Estimates will include: cable tray layout, power and control wiring/conduit, instrument wiring/conduit, lighting, grounding, pneumatics, etc.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create/modify Accubid assemblies using the Electrical Construction Estimating System to speed up work process.

• Work closely with the Lead Estimator in developing electrical construction scope, costs and risks.

• Use Computer System tools to research/develop scope for E&I definitive estimates.

• Monitor changes in scope during projects and support the Project Engineer’s forecasting efforts.

• Promote a team environment that facilitates creativity, innovation, continuous improvement and value engineering. Create a safe and positive work environment, recognize all team members contributions and involvement in critical decisions.

Qualifications:

Estimating experience, specifically, Industrial Chemical Process Electrical and Instrumentation estimating experience.
Experience with Accubid Software, Microsoft Word and Excel.
