Job Description and Qualifications Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
MECHANICAL ENGINEER – HyCO PST
The successful candidate will be responsible for non-rotating mechanical equipment design for construction of new hydrogen/CO/syngas (HyCO) plants.
Responsibilities include providing direction to outside engineering contractors worldwide and performing critical technical reviews of their work. Areas of responsibility include furnaces, boilers, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping, materials selection, and quality control. Experience with design and fabrication of high temperature piping and equipment is desired.
Responsibilities also include providing operating plant support for the HyCO business. This support requires interaction with Operations personnel to solve plant problems with equipment and piping.
Travel to supplier shops, construction sites, and operating plants both domestically and internationally is required. The amount of travel is normally 15-30%.
The successful candidate should have 5 years experience performing detailed design of pressurized equipment. This requires a working knowledge of ASME VIII Div.1, TEMA Standards, and API Standards. The ideal candidate will also have some experience with ASME B31.3 piping design, and piping flexibility analysis in particular. A BSME is required.
The position requires significant interaction with suppliers and engineering contractors. The successful candidate should have effective communication skills and be able to lead global team members to closure on technical issues.

Job Description and Qualifications Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a Sr. Principal Process Engineer at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
The HYCO Cryogenics Hydrocarbon Process group works to maintain Air Products competitive position by producing state-of-the-art process designs for cryogenic hydrocarbon separation and LNG Peak Shaving applications. Process Engineers will work with Project Development Engineer, Product, and Project Engineers as well as sales personnel to execute sales estimates, and projects. This requires a high level of process expertise and desire to be at the front end of the development of projects. The successful candidate will report to the HYCO PST Process Manager and play a key role in achieving these objectives by being responsible and accountable for the following:
(1)Utilizing engineering expertise to lead and execute process and equipment designs for world class hydrogen plants.
(2)Leading technology support requested by sales and product development on the design and operation cryogenic hydrocarbon separation and LNG Peak Shaving facilities.
(3)Working closely with other functional groups including commercial, project, mechanical, machinery, systems, and R&D.
(4) Providing technology expertise to the commercial area in support of sales.
(5) Providing plant commissioning support and leading performance tests.
(6)Participating in P&ID reviews and Hazops at customer or contractor offices.
The successful candidate should hold a BS, MS, or PhD degree in Chemical Engineering with at least 5-15 years of experience in chemical engineering, preferably with an emphasis in process design. Strong technical skills and experience in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid flow, and process simulation using the ASPEN suite of tools are also necessary to be successful. Domestic and international may be required.

Job Description and Qualifications Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, is looking to hire an Applications Research Engineer in Heat Treating for its Metals Processing and Atmospheres R&D team. The position is located at Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
This position is primarily responsible for laboratory testing, development and improvement of furnace-related equipment and technology and leading development of engineered solutions to address customer needs. These responsibilities include understanding of the customer’s requirements, developing and implementing technical solutions using individual’s application knowledge, making presentations/proposals, and working with multi-functional teams to implement solutions at the customer. Other aspects include the ability to resource technology from external partners as needed and prioritizing and managing projects. Some travel in support of customer trials and external partnering will be required.
The incumbent must be an experienced and innovative researcher with excellent engineering and communication skills (written & verbal). A strong knowledge of industrial heat treating equipment and processes as well as furnace atmospheres is required. The individual will also need to work closely with Merchant Gases marketing, equipment engineering and commercial technology teams to generate new ideas and offering concepts, and lead technology development for selected offerings.
Position requires an advanced degree in Engineering or Materials Science with at least 5 years working experience in an industrial R&D environment. Knowledge of metallography and customer interaction experience is also highly desired.
