Job Description and Qualifications Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for a Commercial Development Manager at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

The identification and scoping of market opportunities, development of strategies for selected market opportunities, and execution of external and internal development projects are the three elements of this position. Most of the role will be project-based and highly integrated with existing core business areas rather than building step-out autonomous ventures. The role will require thriving in uncertainty and providing vision, strategies, and tactics that facilitate execution to deliver enhanced margins and accelerate growth. This position will co-lead this company-wide activity for a targeted industry/domain/segment with senior commercial development, marketing and/or general managers in existing business areas. Water is the targeted industry for this position and experience in this industry is required.

Position Responsibilities:
• Lead in the strategic marketing of adjacent segments
• Lead market research and model customer next-best alternatives
• Lead cross-business/function events and collaboration
• Segment and target the selected market opportunity based on attractiveness & fit with existing business areas
• Identify and develop investment programs/projects within the market opportunity (i.e., tactical marketing, application development, offering development and introduction, and external development)
• Develop and communicate market strategy and marcom plan for the segment
• Develop key connections both externally and internally to enable business area to deliver results.

Job Requirements:
• Ability to gain credibility quickly with business area teams and senior managers
• Sponsored by a marketing excellence team member and a general manager
• Existing network in targeted industry or demonstrated ability to build networks quickly
• Experience developing external relationships leading to commercial impact
• Experience managing development project budgets and teams
• Experience with targeted industry structure, firms and technologies
• Marketing, Strategic Planning, or Entrepreneurship MBA preferred, but not required
• Technical undergraduate degree preferred, but not required
• At least three years of experience in a marketing, development, or sales roles
• Experience with primary and secondary market research techniques
• Familiarity with Discovery Driven Planning, Lead-User, Voice-of-Customer and other methods used in the front end is highly desirable, but not required
• Ability to work in the fuzzy front end and on high-uncertainty or high risk projects.
• Self-motivated individual who has the desire to explore new markets, engage with new customers, and define new opportunities
• Ability to organize teams and utilize the skill base of the other team members to move forward (i.e., project management and facilitation skills).
