Job Description and Qualifications Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an opening for an experienced Operations Technical Support Specialist.

Air Products sells and operates many Nitrogen PSA’s, Nitrogen Membrane’s and small Oxygen VSA’s across the United States. The majority of these generators are sold as Sale of Gas (SOG), with the equipment owned and operated by Air Products & others are sold as Sale of Equipment (SOE). With the Sale of Equipment business, the customer owns the equipment and may periodically call on Air Products for maintenance, refurbishment or other services. These requests are coordinated through the Business Area.

The majority of the field work for Sale of Gas plants is directed by our Area Maintenance Managers (AMM’s) and is carried out by our Field Customer Stations Technicians. Call-out & routine maintenance schedules are coordinated through and created by our Equipment Support Team (EST). The role defined here will be to provide Technical Support to the Customer Stations Technicians and Customers when needed. The majority of this work will be providing phone support and troubleshooting technical problems with the customer or the Field Technician. There will be a requirement to travel to customer sites at times to provide site technical support at a customer site. Also included will be supporting SOE Customers with identifying faulty equipment and advising on repair options & ordering of replacement parts.

This position is responsible for providing Nationwide Operations Technical Support of SOG & SOE customers.

Good troubleshooting skills, Knowledge of Software, Hardware, PLC Controllers, Control System Design and Instrument Calibration are required. This will be important to support start-up activities, troubleshooting of existing and new systems and to support customers and local technicians via the phone.

Principal Job Responsibilities:

** Process Control Engineering
- Process Control System ownership of assigned local projects
- Working knowledge of local and APCI electrical engineering practices and codes
- On-site System Start-up and Commissioning of Oxygen and Nitrogen Generators
- Electrical review of local codes at site
- Design Optimization

** Troubleshooting of Electrical and Mechanical problems
- Supporting Customers
- Supporting Customer Stations Technicians

** Tracking Reliability of Equipment
- Root Cause Analysis of Equipment Failures
- Identifying Areas for Equipment Improvement
- Work closely with Engineering

** Tracking and Controlling Maintenance Expense
- Support customers as requested
- Solve problems correctly the first time
- Reduce number of maintenance calls to sites
- Work closely with Engineering to improve Product Line

Skills:

The Operations Technical Support Specialist must exercise sound judgment and interpersonal skills in the coordination and direction of our Generated Gas Business. The person selected for this position will be working beside an existing field support team. Skill requirements for this position are:

• Provide cost estimating, procurement, installation, troubleshooting, and testing of Equipment.
• Writing/Updating Operations Manuals and Procedures.
• Understanding & keeping current standards up to date.
• Over the phone system troubleshooting
• In the field system troubleshooting
• Good technical skills, particularly in instrumentation/controls
• “Hands-on” capability
• Ability to work independently

• Capable and effective communicator

Experience:

The applicant should have at least 5 years experience in industrial gas equipment. The position is technical in nature and requires operating/troubleshooting experience with small compression equipment, valves, vessels and controls. Instrumentation and controls experience is required. Previous plant operating/maintenance experience is preferable.

Travel:

Ability to travel approximately 25% in the U.S. is expected.

The position will be located in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Consideration will be given to other locations dependent on the experience level of the applicant and his/her ability to work independently.

Job Description and Qualifications Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, has an immediate opening for an EST (Equipment Support Team) Data Analyst at our Corporate Headquarters in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

The EST Data Analyst is responsible and focused on analyzing, bench-marking and on-going continued optimization of key performance and business metrics of various aspects of the Customer Engineering Business Organization. The areas touched by this analysis include project engineering, product management and maintenance. This individual will need to use business acumen to target areas for identifying opportunities for productivity improvements, reduced maintenance costs and process optimization in a self-starting manner. This individual will need to use high level observations as a way to drive detail-level analysis and be able to evaluate how various issues/items work together to create costs/in-efficiency within the organization.

The position also entails creation, managing and enhancement of all Microsoft Access Databases or other database types used to support the Customer Engineering Organization. This individual will also be responsible for the management, troubleshooting and maintenance of the team’s websites and all hardware and software used by the EST Desk.

Principal accountabilities:

• Pro-actively and continuously support the Customer Engineering Leads with cost, productivity and profitability analysis.
• Development, generation and enhancement of KPI daily, monthly and quarterly reports.
• Create, monitor and analyze monthly results from cost centers costs to maintenance costs, as well as monitoring productivity performance, headcount and capital expenditures.
• Assist the Leads in the preparation of quarterly business area reports.
• Provide ad-hoc analysis on real time requests.
• Identify opportunities for productivity improvements, reduced maintenance costs and process optimization in the organization.
• Support and Management of the hardware and software used by the EST Desk, including keeping the PC’s updated with the standard tools and the first level of troubleshooting of hardware/software problems.
• Maintenance of EST and Project Execution Websites. Development of new or additional pages as business needs change.
• Creation, management and enhancement of all databases used to support the Customer Engineering Organization.

Qualifications/Experience:

• Engineering or Businees degree preferred; computer science will be considered.
• In lieu of a degree, must have greater than 2 years of business analysis experience in order to be considered.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with a diverse group including managers, subject matter experts, and work process execution experts. Ability to target communication to each level and each individual for maximum impact.
• Basic knowledge of statistics and other technical analytical subject matter so that reports present useful data.
• Demonstrated analytical skills, combined with good SAP and Business Warehouse system skills.
• Individual who is motivated, energized and can execute change initiatives. Able to multitask effectively.
• Ability to learn and understand different work processes within a larger organization and use that information as the framework for understanding the data generated by those work processes.
• Use business knowledge to target areas for analysis.
• Ability to take a report that contains a lot of technical information and condense it down, in way of summary, for presentation to people in management.
• Web development experience is not required; however applicants should be interested in growing into a moderate level of web development.
