The incumbent is accountable for all tactical buying for their defined commodities across business units within the Americas region. These tactical purchasing activities may include the sourcing/purchasing of commodities and services in support of operating plants, capital projects, facilities services, maintenance turnarounds and shutdowns. Tactical buying is required when the source of supply has not been pre-determined through existing supply agreements and competitive bidding is required. This position is primarily aligned with the Rotating equipment team and will support commodities such as; compressors, blowers, pumps, lube systems and inlet air filters.

The position requires detailed knowledge of the purchasing function combined with work process knowledge around requisitioning, purchasing, receiving and disbursements. The position interfaces regularly with requisitioner's, project technicians, machinery engineers, vendors and project engineers on a global basis. The position shall actively participate in best-practice sharing.

Responsibilities and reoccurring activities include:

* Purchase order processing as a buyer in SAP
* Primary support for two (2) sourcing specialists
* Multi-tasking in a fast paced environment; position manages multiple, competing priorities
* Must enjoy negotiating, which is done on a daily basis both with vendors and internal APCI clients
* Discrepancy resolution for purchase order payments
* Owner of some Global Supply agreements
* Cross training among buying team on different commodities

The Senior Machinery Engineer is responsible for the overview as well as detail design of the new machinery used in projects. Compressors are sized anywhere from 500 HP to 40,000HP, and are predominantly centrifugal and reciprocating compressors. Fluids include air, nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, CO, syngas, as well as some specialty gases for the electronics industry. The review of support equipment will also be part of the responsibility, including cryogenic pumps, boiler feedwater pumps, general service pumps, and filtration.

The Engineer is expected to communicate regularly and effectively with suppliers on a global basis. Responsibilities include working with other disciplines to optimize the machinery fit into a plant. This includes working with matrix teams of Process, Mechanical/Piping Systems, Flowsheets, and Electrical Engineering.

Part of the responsibilities of this position will involve supplier interaction in the bid phase of projects. This will involve knowledge of suppliers equipment and internal calculations needed to support bids. Reciprocating compressor knowledge in particular is a plus.

Qualifications:

The candidate must have good teamwork skills, good analytical skills, and be able to react to time requirements. The ability to travel globally is a requirement.

POSITION RESPONSIBILIITIES
