SEEKING 6TH GERIATRICIAN We are seeking a 6th BC/BE geriatrician to join a growing group in southeastern Pennsylvania. The group of 5 geriatricians and one nurse practitioner serve Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network (LVHHN). The position responsibilities include ambulatory patient care, in-patient consultations, comprehensive geriatric assessments, nursing facility care, medical student and resident teaching and an opportunity to conduct clinical research. Research experience is an advantage but not required. An adjunct faculty appointment with Penn State College of Medicine may be available for suitably qualified candidates. We are offering a competitive salary, paid medical malpractice, and paid health benefits for self and family. Our Division of Geriatrics is well-supported by the hospital and has been ranked nationally in the 2007 and 2008 U.S. News & World Report guide to “America’s Best Hospitals”. The hospital’s Center for Healthy Aging, conveniently located on the Ground floor of the network’s 17th and Chew Street campus, is easily accessible to patients. It offers physician offices with an outpatient assessment program, a patient library, and conference rooms for educational programs from LVHHN and community agencies such as AARP and the Area Agency on Aging. Our geriatricians see patients at the Center, in the hospital’s transitional skilled unit located in the same building, in several local nursing facilities, and at our Cedar Crest Campus. LVHHN (www.lvh.org) is a premier academic community hospital comprising three clinical campuses—totaling 1000 beds. The hospital has 17 residency and fellowship programs and plans to start a geriatric fellowship. We are located 60 miles north of Philadelphia and 80 miles west of NYC in a growing suburban area with ten colleges and universities, numerous cultural and recreational activities, good suburban public schools, safe neighborhoods, and a reasonable housing market.
