Lehigh Valley Hospital: Trauma Surgeon

Trauma Surgeon
We are seeking a BC/BE surgeon with added qualifications in trauma/surgical critical care and an interest in general surgery to join our salaried group of nine full-time trauma surgeons and eight physician assistants. The surgeons and mid-level providers manage a 14-bed trauma/neuro unit, 28-bed trauma step down unit and a 15-bed surgical intensive care unit. The practice also has a significant academic component which includes ongoing clinical and basic science research as well as daily teaching of surgical residents, medical students and a surgical critical care fellow. Lehigh Valley Hospital is a 980-bed teaching hospital with the first designated Level I trauma program in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It is one of the busiest trauma centers in Pennsylvania with 4,500 annual trauma admissions, added qualifications in pediatric trauma and an RRC-approved Surgical Critical Care Fellowship. The hospital has five air ambulances, two trauma resuscitation bays and a dedicated trauma operating room serving an eight county area with an estimated population of over two million. An integral part of the surgical department is the regional burn center which doubled in size this year to a total of 18 beds, staffed with three full-time burn surgeons.
